• You don’t even wait to get home to open up the Maalox you just bought and chug directly from the bottle in the parking lot of Walgreens…
• You are scared to wash any of your jeans again because you know that if they shrink AT ALL, you will most likely be bottomless…
• Your co-workers are complaining about how cold the office is, but you still have your giant box fan blowing full force directly on you…
• You have to sit in the (air conditioned) car for a few moments and mentally motivate yourself before getting up the courage to waddle up the hill to your office…
• You opt for flip-flops to go on a walk just so you don’t have to figure out how in the world to bend over long enough to tie your tennis shoes…
• You have to stand up for a few minutes after you eat just so your lungs have enough room to actually get a decent breath of air…
• You go through an entire roll of toilet paper just about every day, due to VERY frequent trips to the bathroom…
• You start getting less anxious about the actual delivery and more anxious that the baby may not come out until AFTER his due date…
In other news, I had the most wonderful church baby shower this past weekend! Nine of the sweetest ladies in the world helped to make my shower so very special, and I was overwhelmed with all of the thoughtful & generous people who stopped by and showered us with gifts. I have another shower this coming weekend that some of my oldest & dearest friends are throwing me, and I am so excited about it as well! What a blessing it is to have such wonderful friends & family to show us so much love at such an exciting time in our lives!! We are truly, truly blessed. Here are a few pictures highlighting my church shower:
My lovely hostesses who were SO wonderful...
The AWESOME diaper cake that Bailey made...
Ashley (my lovely shower assistant) and the sweet robe she had monogrammed for Wyatt...
The stroller/carseat set that my hostesses got me...
Me with 2 of Wyatt's Great Grandmas (AKA: My Grandmas)...
Me & Wyatt's Grammie (AKA: my mom)
Me & Wyatt's Grandma Ward (AKA: Sam's mom)
And now, I must resume the seemingly endless task (but I'm definitely not complaining) of writing thank you notes! I do have a question though and would love your thoughts. Shower group gifts. When you get a gift from a whole group of people (anywhere from 5-10+) and there are no specific instructions on the card (ex: “no thank you needed”, or “only send one thank you to…”) do you send a thank you note to EACH individual person in the group or one thank you note to the whole group? I’m not sure what the proper etiquette is in this case, and I certainly don’t want to come across ungrateful, but do you think each person in the shower group expects an individual thank you note, or does one thank you for the group suffice? Let me know what you think...
I asked the same question when I got a single shower gift from 17 different women! unfortunately the answer was yes, you must write a note for each individual.
ReplyDelete(But I say only write to the ones you know will expect one. To the others, thank them in person).
I think its just fine to pick a name from the group, and write a thank you card to that person.
ReplyDeleteWhat I did was send a thank you to the first person listed on the card & said "thank you to you & your gift group" or something to the affect of including everyone in the group. Personally, I don't think it's necessary to send one to everyone. Hope that helps!

If you get a good answer, let me know. I ended up writing one to each person if they didn't specify because some of those ladies get upset (so I hear) if they don't get one! So...just to cover all my bases, I wrote one to each. It just stinks because 1/2 of them don't even know what they got you! :)
ReplyDeleteI read your list and you know what? I think I'm VERY pregnant! Who knew? Ha ha ha! Those are ALL true for me, except it's been so rainy here that I've had to wear actual shoes. It's TERRIBLE! (They're hot, and then I have to take a TUMS after bending over to tie them.)
ReplyDeleteAbout the thank you card... I have no idea. I'd probably break down and write to everyone for fear of offending people. But if I were to GIVE a group gift, I certainly wouldn't expect an individual thank-you.
In most cases I think I wrote everyone in the group if it wasn't specified.. or if one of them was at the shower I just wrote her in a couple of cases because I figured she bought the gift anyway.
ReplyDeleteYou list made me laugh out loud....because as I was going down the list I was like "yup"..."yup"...."yup".... and so on! haha. Oh pregnancy! Good luck with your last 5 weeks! I can't believe it's getting so close for both of us! YEAAA!
ReplyDeleteCrislyn you look beautiful!! Seriously! You are glowing.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how all te " you know you're pregnant when" symptoms disappeared immediately as soon as Tyce was out of my belly. The wait is
not much longer, my friend!
As for thank you cards - I wrote over 200! As much as I wanted to group my 10 hostesses, I sent a note to them all individually. They each put in a lot of work to make my shower special and I figured the least I could do was spend 2 min writing them each a card. That's just me though... there's no right or wrong way.
Love you!
This is probably too late...but at our church shower I think I got 10 group gifts each with about 10 names on them. I found out (long after our wedding shower for which I wrote each person their own thank you card) that at our church you can write one card. You put the names of all of the people from that shower group on the envelope. Then you leave them at the information desk or designated area and shower group participants know to check that area for thank you cards. Each person then stops by, reads the card, and puts it back for the rest of the group to read. You may want to ask someone at your church if there is a system like that. It was great to see you the other weekend!! Yay for baby Wyatt - can't wait to see that little baby. He's going to be a heartbreaker!
ReplyDeletelove ya, Andrea
You look adorable!!! You're almost there! So exciting! Congrats on Wyatt!!! I have to say, from my experience, a thank you to each and every individual that gifts you is what I have always done.
ReplyDeleteIt's getting really exciting now!
